PAULS SCARLET (MIDLAND HAWTHORN)

£14.40

Crataegus Laevigata Pauls Scarlet becomes smothered in delicate cerise double pink-red flowers in May which are all the more stunning as spring flowering cherries have finished their display by then.

A member of the hawthorn family but Pauls Scarlet makes a superb small tree, very decorative for the small garden.   Crataegus laevigata, known as the midland hawthorn, English hawthorn, woodland hawthorn or mayflower, is a species of hawthorn native to western and central Europe, from Great Britain and Spain east to the Czech Republic and Hungary.  It is not a fussy tree and as long as it is planted in a sunny position should thrive.
