Noble Fir tree (abies procera)

Noble Fir tree (abies procera) is an excellent Christmas tree. It doesn't shed its needles, keeps a good shape, stiff branches will withstand modern Christmas ornaments - and importantly will look good well after Christmas. Can tolerate poor soil conditions, is snow tolerant and withstands exposed sites. Its needles are blue/green, male flowers are deep red, upright female flowers are yellow. The cone can grow up to 25cm. Whereas grand fir is the best forest fir for lower slopes, noble fir is the tree for more exposed mountain sides in western Britain. It has remarkable ability to stand up straight even in the severest winds. Noble Fir tree (abies procera) is native to Oregon and Washington and is found at 1500 metres elevation. Even impoverished peaty soils will support it if there is sufficient ground water. Dry or frosty lowland areas should not be planted with noble fir. The stems will crack spirally and the sawn timber will simply fall apart. Bare root stock available Oct-April or PRE ORDER NOW and reserve
