Tulip Tree (Liriodendron Tulipifera)

Tulip Tree (Liriodendron Tulipifera) although generally thought of as an ornamental specimen and avenue tree in Britain the tulip tree is actually a producer of fine timber. The Tulip Tree is a member of the Magnolia family. Only more mature (10 years old) Tulip Tree (Liriodendron Tulipifera) will produce flowers, which appear during late Spring or early Summer opening out to be yellow/green. A young Tulip Tree can however put on really good growth in a season, sometimes up to 80cm. Autumn colouring of the distinctive leaves which are shaped like tulips turn butter yellow and reds/tan. A really good specimen tree for your garden but does like a little space. Grow in full sun. Eventual height can grow up to 12 meters plus. Spread approx 8 meters

Environment

Any good,deep,well drained soils in full sun. Not too dry soil so would benefit near to pond or stream-smaller potted trees are best to plant out
