Tulip Tree Liriodendron Tulipifera

Liriodendron Tulipifera- Tulip Tree-Although generally thought of as an ornamental specimen and avenue tree in Britain the tulip tree is actually a producer of fine timber. The Tulip Tree is a member of the Magnolia family. It is fair to state that only more mature (10 years old) trees will produce flowers which appear during late Spring or early Summer opening out to be yellow/green. A young Tulip Tree can however put on really good growth in a season sometimes up to 80cm.  Autumn colouring of the distinctive leaves which are shaped like tulips turn butter yellow and reds/tan.  A really good specimen tree for your garden but does like a little space.   Grow in full sun.
