Full Description
Cranberries require a sunny site and will thrive beside a river or pond. Can also be easily grown in pots. Tolerant of frost, likes sun or semi-shade and is happy in most soil types but best in rich, loamy soil.
Cranberries should start to fruit from their third year. Ready to harvest from September and picked before the first frost. Birds are their only problem but can be easily netted to protect them. You don’t need to prune your cranberry plant for the first couple of years, apart from removing any dead, diseased or damaged stems or twigs. In the third year, you can cut back any stems (or runners) that grow too long.
Aftercare
Cranberries ready to pick from September but be aware the birds also love the fruits so recommended to net them. Prune any long stems that appear.
