The bird cherry tree is native to Britain and looks stunning in late spring when it is covered with masses of white almond scented fragrant blossom. An important tree for wildlife as well as ornamental value. Its a wild cherry with clusters of glossy-black berried fruits that only the birds will eat , in fact loved by them. Beautiful highly fragrant white blossom in May. Can be trimmed to the same height as other species in a mixed native hedge or can be grown as a tree.

They have erect racemes until fertilized by bees then spreading or pendulous. Bird cherry is a shrubby woodland edge tree, although it is often planted as an ornamental tree for smaller gardens and is often used in hedging as an infill tree.  It is wind firm, pliant and robust. The leaves turn orange-red in the autumn.
